The Miss Voluptuous Diva 2016 Pageant

Greetings!

I hope all is well with everyone! Thanks again for reading :) I am coming at you guys with a blog post covering The Miss Voluptuous Diva 2016 Pageant. First, please allow me to give my gratitude from both myself, and my lovely assistant, Nikhaule, to the Founder, Miss Barbara Ellzey. Because of her, we were able to experience fun, fashion and fellowship at this beautiful event! We hope to be able to attend her evets in the future, as this one was so impressive.

If you are wondering what this pageant is all about, here's a quick summary from the Facebook page: "The Miss Voluptuous Diva USA Pageant celebrates full-figured women's curves-beyond a size 14. It is a empowerment pageant for next level women. In partnership with the Reach Leadership Program For Girls." As curvy women ourselves, Nikhaule and I can certainly appreciate that this program gives recognition to us thick women and acknowledges that poise, passion and praise can come in all sizes.

I first send my congrats to the winner, Latonya Bright, and to all of the women who were able to place and win awards. They are very well deserved as every single last contestant was absolutely fabulous and a joy to witness. I wish all of the contestants the best in their future endeavours as they clearly have bright futures ahead of them. As I can tell from their back ground biographies that they shared during the ceremony, all of them stand for something positive. Some even came from nothing yet have ascended to great heights in life.

Besides the contestants and Miss Barbara Ellzey, as a result of my attendance, I was able to meet some inspiring individuals in the industry that I will remeber forever and hopefully even get a chance to work with in the future. These including, but not limited to, the former Miss Volutptuous Diva USA, Miss Illinois Petite, and Miss Illinois USA Universal. Themselves and the organizations in which they represent are moving.

Needless to say, I had a phenomenal time, along with Nikhaule and I feel honored to say that I was a part of it. Share the message and spread the word. Check out the links below and enjoy the images!

About Me

Hey there! Thanks for stopping by! I'm Calynn, 20x Award Winning businesswoman, media personality and former pageant queen (Miss United States Universe Tourism 2021, Miss World America Nation 2020). I started this blog when I was barely 15 years old in January 2011 as a supplement to my application to the retail business internship at the downtown Chicago Nordstrom mall! I stayed there for 3 years learning the fundamentals of everything fashion business from sales and marketing to media and modeling. This was a phenomenal foundation to my career as it gave me the rudimentary knowledge and competitive edge that I needed to be successful!  From there, I went on to college and obtained my first degree in Business and Humanities (the arts and social sciences). I wrote as a freelance journalist and editor for several large publications and hosted live cable television for two years. I walked countless red carpets being a VIP media guest at major industry events all over the country a

However, I certainly have no shortage of fun events to share with you all since my last diary entry/blog article. The Living My Best Life Tour continues. Let's get into it!  8 Day Caribbean Adventure on Celebrity Cruises View this post on Instagram A post shared by Calynn M. Lawrence, MSML (@calynnmlawrence) My mom, baby sister and I were blessed to go on a super fun, 8-day Caribbean cruise that was action packed with tons of fun excursions, great drinks, live entertainment and beautiful beaches. This was all of our first cruise and it was a phenomenal experience aside from being absolutely WIPED by the end of it. We got to visit Puerto Rico, the US virgin Islands, St. Kitts and Neives, St .Lucia, St. Johns, Barbados, St. Thomas and more! Below is my favorite photo from the vac

38 Underrepresented World Wide Talents That You Need to Know!

In a world where so many great entrepreneurs and artists can become famous at the act of one viral video online, it's easy to get lost in the misconception that with social media's "power," anybody who is talented is already known. After all, it isn't as difficult to gain exposure and "get big" as it was 20 years ago before the Internet's Massive Media takeover, right? Partially yes, however, social media also makes the market 10x as saturated as it was 20 years ago. Thus, are you really that much further ahead if all of your competition has the means to one-up you, free of cost and inconvenience, just by posting to their online accounts? It's a lot to think about. That is why we here at The Fresh Faces Project work hard to make sure that the artists and entrepreneurs and do-gooders who are underrepresented and don't get the fame and acknowledgment that their talents merit are given a platform. That platform is us. When creating thi
