About Me

Hey there! Thanks for stopping by! I'm Calynn, 17x Award Winning businesswoman, media personality and former pageant queen (Miss United States Universe Tourism 2021, Miss World America Nation 2020). I started this blog when I was barely 15 years old in January 2011 as a supplement to my application to the retail business internship at the downtown Chicago Nordstrom mall! I stayed there for 3 years learning the fundamentals of everything fashion business from sales and marketing to media and modeling. This was a phenomenal foundation to my career as it gave me the rudimentary knowledge and competitive edge that I needed to be successful!  From there, I went on to college and obtained my first degree in Business and Humanities (the arts and social sciences). I wrote as a freelance journalist and editor for several large publications and hosted live cable television for two years. I walked countless red carpets being a VIP media guest at major industry events all over the country

Hey Guys! Thanks for checking in! I hope you've been well :) Do I have quite the update for you all! I know, I know. My failure to regularly post on my old faithful blog has gotten out of control. I used to post at least monthly, however, for the past couple of years I can only find the time to write you all two or three times a year. I want to thank you all for the continued support and readership from the bottom of my heart. Even reviewing my blog stats to see that this blog still receives 50-70K+ reads a year, even with my minimal posting makes me so happy. This post will discuss various events, endeavors and adventures that I've been getting into for the last several months so stay tuned to peep my highlights. "Wakanda Forever" Private Premiere Screening As you may know, I'm a huge comic book/super hero nerd and I especially was a fan of the late Chadwick Boseman's performance in Black Panther . Thus, it was a phenomenal experience to be invited by my clie

The Search For "Mr. Right": 2 Years On Every App Taught Me This

Over the last 2 years, I've been conducting what some could call a "social experiment." I have been single (by choice) for the better part of the last 2.5 years and had an epiphany a little over 2 years ago to give online dating services a shot! While it hasn't been the most miraculous experience, it has certainly been a valuable one! And, I strongly recommend that anyone who is looking to settle down with a life partner, give them a try! Maybe you don't need to sign up for almost every app known to man like I have LOL, but at least try the major ones. This blog is a detailed account of my findings as a young, sweet, successful woman with online dating.  For clarity, I've added the below chart for you to understand who I am and what I have to offer versus what I am seeking. This foundational knowledge is key to comprehending the results of my "experiment." I, as a 26 year old woman who is the CEO of a successful small business ( www.caycomcreate.co

Living My Best Life Tour: 2021 Fresh Faces Project Awards, Retiring From Pageantry, New Business Endeavors, and The Rock Concert of The Decade!

Hi Guys! Thanks for coming back to read another chapter of the Living My Best Life Tour. It's been a while, but with my life being much busier that it was before, I try to only come on here when I have a host different good news announcements to share. And, today is that day! It actually amazes me that even with my inactivity, the blog I started in high school over a decade ago still gets thousands of views a month (Thanks guys :D) . This is actually the very first blog post that I've written from the comfort of my new home office in my new apartment. I've finally accomplished a major milestone and gotten my own place in a really nice Chicago suburb with the space and layout I needed, moving out of my family's home on November 1st, 2021 at 25 years old. I will have an official house tour with an in depth office tour filmed soon and will upload and more in depth blog about the process then! Since we last spoke, there were quite a few major life updates that have occurr

Living My Best Life Tour: Chicago Fashion Week 2021 + BTW, I Have A New Pageant Title

It's been a while! Throughout my relentless grind to meet my goals for 2021, I haven't had the time to blog on my OG website, Fashion Thunderclap. However, I have a few very cool things to share with my beloved readers here that prompted me to MAKE TIME and publish a long-overdue article here. The main thing I want to discuss today is how AMAZING my experience was at Chicago Fashion Week 2021 presented by Fashion Bar ! I was so happy to be invited as a media guest for the 5th year in a row! My love and gratitude goes out to the organization and its Founder, the esteemed Tony Long for always extending the invitation and producing some of the best fashion shows around! As you can see in the photos, I have on a new sash. I was crowned Miss USA Universe Tourism 2021 in January and have pledged to do as I did in my reign as Miss World America Nation and make a difference, big or small, in all seven continents of the world, especially supporting those in line with my platform of

Living My Best Life Tour: Studying At Harvard, Winning Awards and Walking The Runway!

Hello all! Thank you so much for returning to my blog and reading this post. I have so much to tell you all because the last few months have been CRAZY! I'm not even sure where to start. I guess I'll begin with the awards that I have been so blessed to receive within the last two weeks. I have NEVER in my entire career of almost a decade managed to take home five awards in such a small time frame! I received two Virtual Visionary awards for Entrepreneurship & Community Service, two awards given by the Sara Williams Scholarship Fund with proceeds benefitting research at St. Jude Children's Hospital, and a Service Leadership award from the pageant system that I represent as their current Miss World, the Miss & Mrs. America Nation Organization ! It was so much fun to have the honor of strutting the runway at their Nationals Fashion Show a couple of weeks ago alongside my amazing sister queens! Prior to this, I hadn't modeled in a fashion show since I was a Fashio

Living My Best Life Tour: I'm Miss World AN 2020, FFP Awards 2020 and I Launched a Communications Firm

Hey guys!  Thanks for reading. I hope everyone is doing well. I know it's been quite a while since I've updated this blog but I've been doing a lot of work and a lot of cool things since the last time I posted. I needed to focus my time on things other than blogging for a while so that I could get things in line for my future success.  I guess I'll go in order of how things happened. First of all, I'm Miss World America Nation 2020 ! Last time you heard from me, I had a regional title in a different pageant system. Now, I have a title in a new system (since December) with which I've pledged to do community service on a global scale! I've been able to do a nice amount of work so far but we'll see how things pan out at the end of my reign in March ;)  Second, I was blessed enough to be able to successfully host the second annual Fresh Faces Project Awards in early March right before the quarantine. It was a hit! We were able to honor over 40 individuals an
